Dr. Howard K. Herman received his degree in Medicine from the Boston University School of Medicine. Postgraduate training included an internship in General Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City and residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Herman has published book chapters and research articles in his field. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and has been practicing with ENT of Georgia since 1993.

Dr. Herman specializes in the minimally invasive office based management of snoring and mild sleep apnea. He performs more Pillar implants than any other physician in the state of Georgia. He thoroughly evaluates the causes of patients' snoring and customizes therapy accordingly. In addition to Pillar implants, he also provides a full range of other minimally invasive procedures such as in-office turbinate reduction, Coblation Somnoplasty, in-office tonsil reduction, and palatal reduction procedures.

For patients with more severe sleep apnea who are either unable or unwilling to tolerate CPAP therapy, Dr. Herman also offers the full range of surgical therapies such as Septoplasty, Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, and tongue and hyoid advancement procedures.

Dr. Herman has also had special training and experience in the latest therapies to manage nasal obstruction and sinus problems. Although most patients are effectively managed with non-surgical therapies, when necessary, Dr. Herman has extensive experience with the most advanced sinus surgery techniques including computer image guidance and balloon sinuplasty.

Dr. Herman utilizes the most advanced technologies to optimize patient results and minimize recovery time. This includes use of The Harmonic Scalpel for tonsillectomies and other surgeries, which results in decreased postoperative pain and faster healing and return to normal activities.

He is a member of several professional societies including the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Herman sees patients in the Stockbridge, Riverdale, and Piedmont Hospital offices of ENT of Georgia.
